The meeting will be attended by over 120 experts representing the main professions at the interface of media, agriculture and rural development, i.e. journalists (print, rural radio and television), research scientists, representatives of press organisations, communication specialists from public services and development projects, and decision-makers from the six ACP regions (West, Central, East and Southern Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific), EU national institutions and regional and international organisations.

More specifically, the following socio-professional categories will be represented at the seminar:

  • Representatives of national and regional ACP media association networks (Jade Production);
  • Governmental bodies in charge of agriculture and rural development (Ministries of agriculture, animal resources, environment, rural hydrology, forestry, fishery and aquatic resources);
  • Agricultural information services in ACP Ministries of agriculture;
  • NGOs, representatives of the rural communities (POs);
  • Regional and international organisations working to strengthen and develop the media in ACP countries: GTZ, DFID, IFAD, FAO, ILO, BBC World Service Trust, Farm Radio, IICD, University of Guelph, Africa Bureau of Radio Nederland, RFI Afrique, Deutsche Welle, PANOS, SPC etc.;
  • EU Commission and the ACP General Secretariat;
  • Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (MESHA, Kenya);
  • Media for Environment and Agricultural Development (MEAD);
  • International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ);
  • Participatory Ecological Land-Use Management Association (PELUM);
